Hall of Fame? How about Hall of Gods?

Posted by Naly D on Monday, 06 Apr 2009.

The NZ Herald is today reporting that Michael Jordan will be inducted into Basketball's Hall of Fame. Anyone surprised? Anyone? No? Here's a video by DominoPro, a friend of AfroMaori [who did the great 'Rugby v Gridiron' videos which have since been ravaged by corporations].

And if you're in the mood for more greatness, check out 10 Ridiculous LeBron dunks. My favourite is the first one, because it's just insane.

He bounces the ball once from when he gets it inside his own half before dunking it. Travel?

From the NBA rules:
On dribbling:

a. A player shall not run with the ball without dribbling it.

On travelling:

b. A player who receives the ball while he is progressing or upon completion of a dribble, may use a two-count rhythm in coming to a stop, passing or shooting the ball.
The first count occurs:
(1) As he receives the ball, if either foot is touching the floor at the time he receives it.
(2) As the foot touches the floor, or as both feet touch the floor simultane- ously after he receives the ball, if both feet are off the floor when he receives it.
The second occurs:
(1) After the count of one when either foot touches the floor, or both feet touch the floor simultaneously.

So um... He's not receiving the ball and he is dribbling it while moving... So um... Ambiguity? Because he's totally... Um... Jumping after the second step...? Ummmmm.... :(

He totally travels. Twice.

I count six, maybe seven steps from when he receives the ball, with one bounce of the ball during the carry. Do the maths. ;)

He does dribble the ball quite far out from him. After the dribble might be ok. It's the four steps he takes before the dribble that are the problem, I think.

yes.
